No it would make it easier for the punters to find them and use them.

It may that but at least they would know they are getting into a legal car
and it would make enforcement easier.
it could also be advertised that yellow cabs must be pre booked and only black cabs can pick you up without a booking.
There are going to be folk from around the world coming to London for the games and they wont know the difference unless they are informed
There is also the point that the Uk is the only place in the world with a two tier taxi service

It would help the reverse IMO.

The yellow bit I'm not sure about, but having meters should be a must.

Just because a meter is in, doesnt mean the tariff is decent

As for yellow....another insane idea from skippy....wonder what he'd think if all his vehicles in his area had to be a certain colour?

No.
But it would be easier if all London taxis where black only (except livery taxis) and minicabs any colour but black.
Who benefits from Addison Lee's minicabs being the same colour as taxis?

all cars have trip meters, so a taximeter is £300 wasted in my opinion

How about one tier taxis  As I've said sooooooooo many times before. With the exception of London all taxis can be whatever the council says is fit for a taxis, slap a 'taxis' bubble on its roof, make sure they all have appropriate insurance and have passed all appropriate knowledge tests etc upto them then if they do PH work everybodies choice there. In London of course because they are a 'special' case all taxis in London should be the famous London Black Cab and so long as you have a nice new one less than 3 year old and pass the knowledge test etc and there is a spot on a rank somewhere for you to sit there you go. Oh yes and one more thing the areas surrounding London should not have 'black' as the colour of choice for their taxis

Why?

Does something happen to them when they reach their third birthday?
