if a passenger "kicks off" verbally at me (for the route im taking or suchlike), not physically or swearing but by way of dissent, can i warn em its a "long walk back home"?, followed by letting em find out? like a pub landlord can eject anyone on his premises surely its my vehicle, i may have a "common law" contract to complete the agreed work (journey) but i cant be obliged to accept just any kind of comment? just wondered, i remember years ago the clever comment "going the long way are we driver?" |

If the passenger is not happy with the route you are taking, for whatever reason, Just follow their directions if it is on the meter. If it is a priced job, tell him that the distance is not going to make it any more expensive. |

As a taxi driver you have a duty of care and are responsible for the safety of your passengers. If a passenger ' kicks off' or is drunk you can't take responsibility for safety during the journey. I stop ask for the fare and advise them to take another taxi or if drunk,a minicab. I do not move until they are out. |

Chuck them out. No job is worth it, and the more drivers that put up with s*** from punters, the more it will happen. The only time not to chuck them out is if you think a smack on the hooter will follow, or they are too p***ed to find their way home. Then just drop them off at the local police station and give them the problem. |

Had a comment like this myself so I just suggested they might like to WALK and they'd find out. No more comment and a happy driver. |

If it's quiet I've said to them "I'll take you back to the rank and we'll go your way if my way is cheaper you pay both fares ...........How lucky do you feel?" If it's busy I'd "Say fine........ it's your money pal" and take them thier way pocketing the extra
