1 one fog light bulb gone at the front, not that that I ever needed to use them with the triple morette lights,
2 one of the rear fog bulbs gone
3 the water in the windscreen washers ran out at the test, gave no option to let me refill it
4 a split wiper rubber
5 broken electric winder on drivers window
6 loose front grill
7 corroded chrome trim, look at it on my alloy wheel auction
8 small spot of rust on 1 rear passenger door at the very bottom, have to bend down to see it.

so how did it pass an mot with a faulty fog lamp and split wiper blade?

Sorry, I've seen this car, its a complete piece of poo, Small amout of rust, the whole of the bottom door is corroded, there are bits missing all over it. The inside is awful, backs of seats loose, I wouldn't want to get into for a lift home. I'm surpised the operator allowed it. Its no wonder York Council are tryiny to raise the standards of vehicle if this is what is on the road

offered to....

1, replace front fog bulb
2, replace rear fog bulb
4, replace wipers
5, replace window motor with one from my other car
6, tighten/replace screws in grill
7, replace chrome strip with a roll from halfords
8, rub down and touch up the 50p sized rust spot

could do it all in an afternoon but no they condemned it and took away my job....

Then why did you not do it before you went in for the test

its that good its gone from being a working PH car (with full MOT) to breaking for parts...not even up for sale as a runner...

Well spotted!!!

I generally leave the small blemishes for them to mention to me. Made the mistake once of doing a p*ss poor job on some paint chips and she told me off: 'Don't do them unless I tell you to!!!'

Fair enough!!

q. well, you would have surely had to replace a M reg car soon, if making enough, and if not why carry on?

Quote:
our council only just going to age restrictions, would have got another year out of it, also would have been moving to days, more regular income on days, mostly supermarket runs and people shop whatever the weather or time of year, and as to making minimum wage, better than no wage at all!

q. wouldnt it have been better to sell it as a a runner rather than breaking it?

Quote:
Its actually worth more in bits, and helps to keep more xm's on the road. 300,000 miles ex taxi when good ones only fetch 200 quid, now if it was a CT or a v6, then would be worth keeping together, but the diesels are common so is better as a parts donor
