echo15 wrote: Quote: What were the issues he was ranting about? Drivers hours ![]() He put the GMB's case over well i.e. drivers shouldn't be working crazy hours. Yes we need to earn a living, but it ain't much good if we are dead.

Oh, and it's at around 1.40 on the timer. Does also put to bed the views of folks who think some unions/associations are only after subscriptions and nothing else, as restricting working hours isn't exactly a massive draw.

He did'nt sound too confident with his message to me.
I'm sure his members will be over the moon with restricted hours, less money with the recession and the GMB telling them to go home after 10 hours. But then we should remember Terry drives a desk nowadays with a nice little income from the GMB and a cheap car from Glasgow, so why should he be concerned with a recession? |

Doesn't everyone currently have the opportunity to decide what hours they work? Is it the London GMB's wish to try and remove that freedom of choice? Regards JD |

Are they a danger though? If you've spent 8 hours of that 10 dozing in a stationary car at an office or a rank, are you really tired or actually quite refreshed? Obviously being awake for 24 hours is a completely different scenario, but whilst were 'on duty' for 10/12 hours how much physical or mental work are we doing to tire ourselves out? I'd argue very little in most places. |
