We are from T - Centrix an accredited centre for delivering NVQ we currently have funding available and would like to offer you the opportunity to take up free NVQ training. Our assessors are trained to the highest standard they are DSA driving instructors , and accredited DIAmond advanced Taxi Trainers and examiners.
Were flexible and will work around you, we dont expect you to take time off work, we know time is money!
NVQ is a qualification for you not the company its not hard its work based , and all about collecting evidence you already have the knowledge and understanding to be working as a taxi driver. if your interested send us an email :lol:

Its already free in most areas, those that charge drivers only pay £10 as they can get a rebate, by filling in the rebate form that the councils should have

DIAmond Advanced Taxi Test
More and more local authorities are insisting upon an assessment of driving ability before issuing a licence to trade as a taxi or private hire driver. Legislation is constantly reflecting the requirements of the people and standards are being raised to comply with this need.

The DIAmond taxi test includes the ‘taxi manoeuvre’ and like any passenger carrying test places great emphasis on the safety and comfort of those being driven. A national network of DIAmond Accredited Taxi-Driver Trainers (DATTs) can assist existing and potential taxi or private hire drivers with assessment and training and of course booking a Diamond was established in 1992 by the Driving Instructors Association (DIA) to provide a benchmark for the nations professional driving and riding instructors. Although instructors are periodically checked on their instructional ability, driving standards are not officially checked. Diamond filled the void by providing an advanced driving test modelled precisely upon the DSA test and accredited by them. Although the Diamond Advanced Test has always been available to the public it has not been actively marketed to them, until now

The Diamond organisation has evolved into a robust national network of hundreds of highly professional trainers and examiners.

Yes, we are an advanced driving organisation, but don’t let that frighten you off! – Diamond is refreshingly different to similar organisations and far more user friendly. We only use professionally qualified DSA approved trainers to deliver our training and assessment programmes, based on exactly how you were taught to drive.

DIAmond taxi test.

Duration:
50 minutes

Pass mark:
No more than 9 driving faults

Route:
A pre-determined route which has been agreed and approved by DIAmond

abbott4444, As you will know already, most taxi and PH drivers have been driving for years, and will have developed there own driving habits and style, not forgetting that nearly all will have dispensed with the out of date BSM steering wheel shuffle when turning
What would be considered a fail, and is the test similar to the advanced test

Hi Skippy, Has a experienced driver you should have no problem with the test, this is taken into consideration by the examiner and he/ she will take this into consideration it is a more advanced driving test than the DSA. Most driver pick up bad habits .i.e.not using the pull push method of steering, this would not neccesserily warrant a fault unless the examiner considered it to be a risk to safety.

Faults that could occur on test are;

Eyesight check ( 27 metres)
Make proper use of controls
Move away safely/ under control
Reverse/ reverse parking/ turn in the road
Making effective use of mirrors
Give signals by direction indicator/arm
Take prompt and appropriate action on all rd signs rd markings/ traffic lights signals by other rd users
Exercise proper care in the use of speed
Make progress and drive at a apppropriate speed for the rd conditions staying within the realms of safety and the law
Make proper use of ancillary controls

So your trainers can drive, how many of them are actually taxi drivers or have been taxi drivers for any considerable time?

have you tested your testers with a group of [edited by admin] heads in the back being total @rseholes asking daft questions, trying to answer a hands free phone call or the radio with them in.
trying to get to the next pick up on time, or get the punter to there train airport or bus
the list is endless

So what can a trainer teach some of these guys who have been driving cabs probably longer than some of these trainers have been living?

You say some started their careers as taxi/bus & coach driving can you tell us how many were taxi drivers, for how long and how long ago?

JD can I point out that the NVQ probably won't teach experienced drivers a whole lot but it will extract knowledge that they already have and make them more aware of it and the proper time to use this knowledge. IMO it is a method of proving they can actually do the job they've been doing for donkeys years so the LO are satisfied. If a driver doesn't have particular knowledge for whatever reason they will pick this up through the training and assessment. Obviously I can't see how somebody who doesn't or hasn't done the job can effectively assess somebody as a taxi driver.
