CRIMINALS let out early from jail have been paid £5.5MILLION compensation for the free prison board and lodging they missed by being released.
“Subsistence” payments have been made to thousands let out under Labour’s early release scheme.
Nearly 50,000 have been freed since the “emergency” programme was launched in June 2007 to tackle overcrowding.Those serving up to four years are eligible to get out up to 18 days early.
