got a right plonker the night who wanted to know how to become a taxi driver and no he was not P1ssed either so we had a wee chat as we were heading down the road as you do and at the same time trying to work out if he was on drugs or had he been reading the Harlow report :D and he then hits me with the mother of all questions..........

"Do you think my conviction for driving without a licence and insurance resulting in a 2 year ban with a £2k fine that i have still not paid would cause me a problem"

after avoiding the traffic island in front of me   and almost wetting my pants I could only say "Emmmm nah go for it mate iam sure the cab inspector would have nae problems with you"

anyone else had any good ones this weekend

I had one a few years ago, he was on about being a cabbie until he said he'd been inside for forgery, I asked him what he'd forged? He said travellers cheques, and money. He got 5 years in jail.

You should have told him to apply in Dundee he would have got a badge no problem. All he would require is a "Smith envelope"

Either that or just get Our Pal Davie from a certain company to speak on his behalf, even Desperate Dan or Minnie the Minx could get their badge.

heres one guy who oughta be up on fraud charges, if a DSS claimant did half what this MP has done they would be in the slammer...would he be a "fit and proper person"?

Geoff Hoon faces MP expenses questions after it emerged he claimed second home allowances for his Derby home while letting out his London home.

And at the same time the transport secretary was living in a taxpayer-funded Whitehall flat which came with his then job of defence

Well are you saying your personal standards are a wee bit low or would you say that He was only done for counterfeit so not a danger to the public, and therefore he deserves a second chance maybe? Standards have gone south or has it always been that way, I cannot remember that far but it does nothing for the way that joe public perceives taxi drivers and the taxi trade in general when you see negative headlines in the media. http://taxi-driver.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10883

I kind of agree. If the losers in your drivers case was a multinational firm, then hey ho, but if the losers were working folk, then methinks he shouldn't be let back in.
