London's taxis voted world's best From the BBC London site: London's taxis are the best in the world, although they provide the worst value for money, a survey has said. (They should have tried Addison Lee, that would have showed them real rip off prices) The capital's taxi drivers were named friendliest, safest and had the best knowledge of their city, according to the 1,400 travellers who voted. They also came out on top in the cleanest and most available categories. John Thomas, chairman of the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association, (Is that the LTDA? ) said that training was the key to ensuring good customer service.
He said: "London's taxi drivers must dedicate three years to completing the knowledge training to qualify as a London taxi driver and that commitment is vital to offering the very best customer service. "This is what makes London's taxi service stand out from New York, Paris and every other major city." New York finished runner-up in the survey commissioned by Hotels.com. |

Some things do come at a price. TBH if I was lost in London I wouldn't give too hoots what the cost was as long as I got to my destination on time and in one piece. |

Funny you should mention Addison Lee, last week a guy I know took his son to St Thomas hospital to see a specialist, the hospital receptionist booked him a car from the hospital to St Pancreas Station to catch the train home, I don't know how far it was but they relieved him of £20 for the fare. |

It's about £14 in a real Taxi, but then again the Hospital won't receive a backhander from a real Taxi. TFL and the LTDA have repeatedly asked them to install a 2 cab Taxi rank, but it always falls on deaf ears. The NHS and Corruption . . working hand in hand. |

The good news is though, we're taking it back thanks to the massive effort by the LTDA, UNITE and DAC drivers. That's gonna be a whole lot more skint Minicab drivers.
