Skippy I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at here. There are several ways to run a taxi business and so long as it's legal what's your problem. You seem to have an overwhelming urge to help your fellow drivers. Just remember that actions speak louder than words and words appear to be all that's being provided by you at the moment. If you seek to change things within the industry you will have to do a lot more than just talk about it :D

Toots there are many unscrupulous owners out there that take advantage of the drivers.
Up here drivers are working for 12 hours or more per shift and only receive a % of the bag when a driver has only done 4 £4 jobs in a shift he receives £8 and they don't own the cabs
One driver did 14 hours the other day he made a statement that he needed to do 1 more job to get a £10 power card FFS

On Tuesday night I even sat for over 3 hours before i managed to get a £5.50 job, things are dire here with over 130 cabs at the weekend in one small area of the Borders

I appreciate what you're saying Skip but whilst all you do is talk about it nothing is ever going to change. Whilst you don't take action nothing will change. Drivers here can sit for hours too before they get a job and with over 400 HC and 2000 PH the competition is just as strong for the work. Again whilst the drivers just talk about it and take no action there will never be any changes. We don't have the split bag system here but they do take 85.00 every week in the company I work for and the other company take 95.00 with no consideration as to whether the drivers earn enough or otherwise. These two companies have in excess of 375 drivers (and still giving out sets ffs) both PH & HC on the same system. There are other companies charging just as much but smaller. People ring more than one company when they want a taxi and whichever gets there first is the lucky one the other has just wasted time and fuel to go nowhere. We all have our problems
