Lady Cab Drivers It has recently been brought to my attention that a firm has set up on the internet which will basically put the public in touch with a female cab driver near them. It is based on the ethos that woman feel safer with woman drivers, although the service is available to men and I quote; ‘Typically these are older men using a taxi to make a doctors or hospital visit, seeing relatives or going on a shopping trip. Their reason for choosing a female driver isn’t about fear of being attacked by a male driver, but more to do with pace and empathy. They feel that women are more understanding of their situation, more likely to travel at a comfortable pace and more accepting of any delays that might crop up.’ You see that’s the problem, you male cab drivers thought your job was to take your passenger from A to B by the shortest possible route (errm... usually that doesn’t involve asking for a postacode and using a ‘sat nav’), you all obviously lack ‘empathy’. Now I must admit I didn’t know what or where empathy was, it certainly isn’t within the City of Carlisle, but no, ‘its often characterized as the ability to "put oneself into another's shoes", or to in some way experience the outlook or emotions of another being within oneself’. Call me completely selfish, but I don’t really want to ‘empathise’ with a passenger who hasn’t had a wash, stinks of p*ss and may possibly have shat themselves, my mission in life is to primarily get them to the destination as soon as possible, then use a totally ludicrous amount of air freshener, so the next passenger doesn’t think I’m the one with a body odour / bladder problem / the squits. Indeed, this website malarkey is all well and good, but if I register to this particular website and insist they send a driver who has huge hooters, the size of Jordan’s, will they still send me a cab? It also seems a fair point to raise, if a person can start a website based on a customer only getting a female driver, then I could in theory start a similar website guaranteeing the driver won’t have ginger hair? www.nogingercabby.com if you wish to register to my website then merely send the magazine £50 in used notes with a memo attached giving your details and personal guarantee that you don’t have ginger hair, I guarantee I will do my best to ensure my £50 goes to a very worthy cause. |

Is Captain Cab going to replace JD? At the very least CC shows a comedic side in his post. A very enjoyable to read too! |

I thought the article you did on the common garden mole and their mating rituals was better.
