Mr A.

After some lengthy phone calls, it would seem the traffic orders for both the above allow TAXI access, and the signs should reflect that.

The LTDA (as usual) have now asked WCC to reflect this allowed use in their newly erected signs.

As you will remember the Victoria Street one used to be Buses only until we asked them to change it about 5 years ago.

Can you therefore confirm that we are allowed in that stretch of the bus lane then? even though "TAXI" has been omitted. :?

Feel free to spread the word on the LTDF as well! 8)

Regards.

I can.

I spoke with Barry Hooper who tells me the traffic order still stands, and as far as he is aware, the 'new' Bus Lane in Shaftesbury was for Taxis and Buses as WCC send all the proposals to the trade bodies.

As you know, TAXI is only published every two weeks, with all the submissions having to in three days before it goes to print.

I gather either Richard or Barry will mention it in the next issue.

Is that breakfast getting closer, or is it safe in my wallet?

Cheers GBC, great news. :)

Last count earlier this week nearly 600 :-o
Not bad for an trade organisation thats only been running properly for 3/4 months! I'll have to start fast'ing very soon in order to enjoy & digest a full breakie & lunch at Lydia's!!! :D

I take it you've heard the latest regarding Addie Loo & Riesel's mini-cab outfit at the airport?

Lets hope we (all the trade rep's) can work together and sort this out.

Cheers.

P.S...aint Taxi printed weekly now?

No, every two weeks.

There's another thread running on the Heathrow parking lot.

As I said on there, Minicabs have always run from the flyers, and they have booking facilities. From the information Mr A has posted on his blog, it seems they are asking for a parking area opposed to waiting in the car parks.

If Mr A has any more information that goes beyond that brief, let me know, I'll be interested.

I've just this minute spoken to Barry Hooper about this.

As far as he is concerned, when this traffic order came into force literally about a month ago, taxis were included.

He's chasing it up with WCC.

Sounds like a Camberwell Road the second when the word 'TAXI' was removed by persons unknown, then reinstated about 6 months later.

I've also e-mailed Martin Low a few minutes ago. Do you have his new e-mail addy? Or is it still the one on Mr A's blog?

I had a look at the signs in Shaftesbury Avenue tonight.

They look incomplete, as even Bus Lane signs have to conform to D.O.T standards, and according to the newly erected signs, cycles are not even included?

Me thinks the signs have been put up in error with the 'taxi' and bike decals missing.

Your right, just tried it.

Mr Lowe must have a new one, Thomas the Taxi might know it.
