hi

i have joined this forum as i am seriously considering applying for my PH licence in York.

have spoken to a couple of firms / people who are looking for SE drivers due to expansion / new start up businesses etc.

is it possible to earn decent money at the moment ?

i am prepared to work hard including some weekends and a fair share of nights as long as the money is worthwhile.

What a sales pitch, expansion!!!???

Steve lemme tell you something about taxi offices, there is a bloke who owns it, he's a greedy little sod and will say anything to recruit new drivers.

What he really means to say is this...due to it being so bad at this time I've lost a few drivers and my pocket is suffering from it, please be a good (censored word) little black boy and come work for me.

at this moment in time there are 700 Private hire drivers IN York and around 170 odd Hackney plates to which most are double driven

there are drivers who have day jobs [proper jobs] and do this job to top up their income, also PH drivers who PH on a day time then hackney at night

the pie is only so big and the slices are getting smaller

at the last count a few weeks ago 175 new wanna be PH drivers had apllied for a PH badge with the Council and are being processed

PH drivers are leaving PH firms and moving around, no, the grass is not or does not get greener

I suppose, but not knocking you, that you have maybe just recently lost your job or made redundant and thought, oh dear what shall i do, oh i know i'll go taxiing, till things pick up then i'll go back to my proper job

its hard out here, and beggars have a higher status, and thought much better of than cab drivers, and indeed much better off

Depends on what you view as decent money. :?

If you work like a c***, and blitz nights and weekends, then you will earn good money.

But it all depends on what your outgoings are.

Best bet is to get your license and try it for real.

Mark, you gotta stop this mate, you work Brighton, Brighton is a trendy place right now and buzzes, but a lot of other places are dead, completely dead infact, I know it's easy to assume it's the same across the board but it isn't, come work here for a week, drive on Aqua Cars and spend all night running ppl about for £2.60/£3.30, you'll soon be running through the Lewis tunnel for the East again
