I don't usually post on forums, but I just want to tell you that we have had enough of the idiots out there, and at huge cost we are going to install CCTV in all our cabs.

It made the news on http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tees/3621565.stm

Well done to the lads up north.

But wouldn't it be nice if we didn't need them. :(

The local council won't allow us to have CCTV in our cabs because they say it could present a legal problem, otherwise we would have had them long ago.

Best wishes

I find that comical, or perhaps madness. :( :(

They are in many many councils in the country, so why not in your manor?

Our County Council banned them a while ago. Taking images of kids and all that. They have now relented, saying that security CCTV is OK in cabs, provided that there are safeguards over who has access to the images.

John,

Why don't you give them a legal problem then?

Acting Ultra-viries maybe.

Hi
The majority of CCTV systems do NOT allow the driver or even the taxi/private hire company access to the images which are stored on the system. They can only be accessed by either the CCTV dealer, police or council.

I think a lot of it is more ignorance on behalf of the council rather than anything else.

In the next few weeks we are going to be given a grant from the local Transport fund for CCTV cameras to be fitted in our cars. The chap who runs the transport side in Nottingham said to us the other week that their was a substantial amount of cash in the pot for things like this.

hes probably right.

all our money is spent on subsidies, to get folk home because of limit by numbers

but remember the downside nige, the next time licensing stop you it will be fire, extinguisher, first aid box, video.

they will always be a spy in the cab and will one day be used to fine for doing too many hours.

big brother will be watching!

you have been warned.
