I had a couple in their 80's in the other week, both ex military WW2, she, yes she, was telling me about parachuting during the war and how it did her knees in, she had to be jumped into France because she could speak the lingo, I have to confess it has probably been my best fare this year purely for the story factor and to have someone from an era where respect existed, one funny observation that hit me, was how I imagined her back then, the picture I got was of the girl in Foyles War complete with tally ho chaps lets get in there and clear the building.

People like him fought for our fredom in both world wars. RIP old boy.

I pick an old guy up who was a POW, when you drop him off at the British Legion you don't want him to get out of the car I could listen to him all day.

when you see the hoodies and chavs walking the streets you have to ask if the human sacrifices were worth it, maybe we would have been better off under the nazis.....

My dad sometimes recalls his time in the dessert rats and how they commanded such respect that if he and his mates went into a pub in uniform the mere sight of the insignia meant that they didn't buy a drink themselves. The stange thing was he didn't join up until 1946.

for a start lets have national service, boot camps and PROPER borstals, put redcaps in charge

let "life" mean LIFE, drop "manslaughter" as a charge, if you kill someone its murder and should carry a minimum of 20 years no parole

anyone caught with a knife gets 10 years no parole
anyone caught with a gun gets 20 years no parole
drug dealers get a minimum of 15 years and all goods confiscated
drug users get locked up for 1 years cold turkey
rapists get 15 years
joyriders get 5 years
muggers get 10 years
kill a child or OAP and get LIFE
bring back the stocks and hanging

all above with no parole

What a stupid comment. Firstly if you feel that YOUR life is being threatened by someone with say a knife and you happen to struggle with them and in the struggle they get stabbed and die. By your idea YOU would be guilty of murder.
