As all airport runs from the Borders go out-with the area, the tariff is not the final arbiter of your charges.

You are at liberty to have a sign inside your cab to remind passengers of this cost- but I would have thought that when you are booked you will be in a position to contract with the hirer and reach agreement on that . It is not appropriate to have that item on the fare tariff for the Borders.

I ask our licencing depart if pick up /drop off airport charges could be included on the tariff sheet and this was the reply

If the airport(s) are out of area, your LO is correct and you can charge what you like - provided the fare is agreed in advance.

A drop off is easily added before hand as its usually a stable set amount.

A pickup or meet and greet on the other hand is unquantifiable amount simply because its a variable based on how long you've parked up waiting due to several factors beyond your control so I guess no tarriff can build in an unknown variable.

The question was ask for those times when we either pick up off the rank or an immediate phone booking whereby the punter does not ask the price.
In that scenario the meter is used, to and from Edinburgh airport for an example the fare on the meter is around £60, Glasgow £132 and Newcastle £97,
We don't have extras on our meters so the extra costs cannot be added except by verbal agreement

What are the prices to these airports when they are done "off the meter"
In most cases that I know the "off the meter" price for airports is cheaper than the metered rate.

Cough cough, um it does not quite work that way down here!

The customer by asking, sorts of....well... invites a price.

Most cab companies charge less for a long distance run. Your normal rate maybe says £1.50 per mile but they will quote £1.20 for a distance job.
The lower rate then invites add-onns like tolls and parking. The final amount is not far off the actual meter rate or PH price per mile rate.
