Isnt it time someone asked why, in a time of so many job losses why it is that it takes anything upto 3 months to be able to employ a driver due to LAs and CRB checks dragging thier heels (once money has changed hands)

I dont advocate cutting checks, but they are all on computer and take (hang on.....tap tap tap) about 3 seconds to process....

It's a paper trail, you got to the Council and get your CRB forms, you fill them in and give them back to the Council, they send them off to Liverpool to the CRB office, they send them to your local gorce HQ for them to do a PNC check, they send them back to Liverpool so they can put it on nice paper and send it back you your Council.

Basically your paying for a PNC check which will cost you £9 if you went into your local Police station and did one there.

It's all about money I'm affriad.

I know, i paid for a police check at the same time as handing in my council forms

police - £10 + 2 weeks
crb - £36 + 3 months

difference in reports - none.

Easy answer to that one if the council workers etc do it to quickly it looks like they are over staffed and they will make a few redundancy's keep everyone waiting to save jobs. and F##k everyone trying to get a license etc. It is the same on all government & council deptments.
