Man Convicted Of Sweets Theft

Wednesday 19th August 2009

A 38-year-old Netherton man has been handed a community order after stealing £29 worth of sweets from Poundland.

On August 3, Dudley Magistrates handed Matthew John Paskin, of Church Street, a six month community order, as well as ordering him to pay £70 court costs, for stealing the confectionary.

Also in court on August 3: John Ernest Edward Shillingford, aged 23, of Lower Derry Street, Brierley Hill, was jailed for four weeks suspended for 12 months for stealing £23.92 worth of cheese from Asda.

In court on August 4: Paul Lawrence Booth, aged 44, of Oak Green, Dudley, was fined £100 and ordered to pay £15 costs as well as being handed six licence penalty points, for driving without insurance.

Andrew Mark Hodgkiss, aged 41, of Mullett Street, Pensnett, was jailed for 12 weeks suspended for 12 months, as well as being disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £125 court costs, for driving while over the legal alcohol limit.

The defendant was also jailed for eight weeks suspended for 12 months, to run concurrent with the above, as well as being disqualified from driving for three years, for failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He was also jailed for eight weeks, suspended for 12 months, consecutive to the first offence, as well as being disqualified from driving for 12 months, for driving while disqualified.

The defendant was also fined £50 and ordered to pay £15 costs for driving without due care and attention.

Nathan Round, aged 19, of Pleasant View, Lower Gornal, was jailed for 12 weeks for assaulting an officer in the execution of his duty.

The defendant was also jailed for 12 weeks concurrent for stealing jewellery, a television and over head projector from the Quality Hotel.

He was also jailed for 12 weeks concurrent for stealing a pocket watch to the value of £400 from the kitchen area of the Quality Hotel.

Zulfiquar Ali, aged 35, of Bunns Lane, Kates Hill, was fined £500 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £495 costs for disposing without licence controlled waste on land at New Road.

Abdul Azziz, aged 41, of Fullwood Crescent, Holly Hall, was fined £150 and ordered to pay £15 costs for plying for hire without a hackney carriage licence on February.

The defendant was also fined £150 and was disqualified from driving for 12 months for driving without insurance.

He was also fined £150 for plying for hire without a hackney carriage licence and also fined £150 for driving without insurance.

The defendant was also fined £150 and ordered to pay £295 costs for plying for hire without a hackney carriage licence on April 25 2009.

The defendant was also fined £150 and was disqualified from driving for 12 months for driving without insurance.


Mark Glover, aged 32, of Tanfield Drive, Dudley, was handed a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £500 court costs for using wireless telegraphy apparatus, for the purpose of making a broadcast, without a licence.

In court on August 5: Andrew Paul Dublin, aged 25, of Malvern Crescent, Holly Hall, was jailed for four weeks, for stealing a quantity of lead.

Anthony Gill, aged 49, of Central Drive, Lower Gornal, was jailed for 16 weeks, for driving while disqualified.

Robert Anthony Morton, aged 59, of Ladbrook Grove, Lower Gornal, was handed a 12 month supervised community order, as well as being ordered to pay £60 court costs and disqualified from driving for three years, for driving while over the legal alcohol limit.

In court on August 7: Wayne Nathan Steventon, aged 20, of Ivanhoe Street, Dudley, was sent to a young offender institution for four weeks, for interfering with a motor vehicle.

The defendant was also sent to a young offender institution for six weeks concurrent to the above for taking a motor vehicle without the owners consent on August 6 2009.

The defendant was also committed to a young offender institution for six weeks concurrent for taking a motor vehicle without the owners consent on April 5 2008.

He was also sent to a young offender institution for four weeks concurrent for failing to surrender to police bail.

Kevin William Jones, aged 31, of Dingle View, Sedgley, was fined £80 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £60 court costs for possessing heroin.

Caroline Catherine Rigby, aged 37, of Gower Road, Sedgley, was handed a 15 month supervised community order and ordered to pay £100 costs for assault.

Dean Wheelwright, aged 26, of Central Drive, Lower Gornal, was handed a 12 month supervised community order, for possessing cannabis.

The defendant was also handed a 12 month supervised community order, for cultivating cannabis.
