| Post subject: | Vague Information ..... Anyone Know Any More?? |
I was advised yesterday (11/09/2009) that the government has recently, about two weeks ago, set-up a court, tribunal or the like, to scrutinise council decisions with regard to their lawfulness or otherwise. We apparently already have such a scheme / system in Brum attached to the courts. I have not heard about this previously ..... can anyone throw any light on this please?? And 'wannabe' I don't mean pictures of candles, or sunrises or the like!!! |

I haven't heard that, but I think the DfT would be interested to hear of any crazy council licensing decision. Maybe the next set of good practise guidance will be statutory.

From what I gather ordinary GPG allows councils to do what they want, and have a right good cherry pick. Statutory GPG is similar, but if they don't do a particular bit of GPG they have to explain why to the DfT. Now that would be very interesting to see.

From what I gather ordinary GPG allows councils to do what they want, and have a right good cherry pick. Statutory GPG is similar, but if they don't do a particular bit of GPG they have to explain why to the DfT. Now that would be very interesting to see. The sooner the better then

I think it would be very hard for our rules to be defined definitely in any act. How long has it taken for WAV rules to arrive? 
However it would be a lot easier to pass statutory guidance, or so I'm told, and that will help standardise things. |
