Brighton cab companies get okay for more cars

BRIGHTON -- Brighton council voted last week to increase the number of taxis per company to seven each, up from five, after a request from one of the companies.

Mark MacDonald of Appletown Taxi asked for more licences as being restricted to only five is causing him some difficulty. He said he's acquired contracts with the school boards and provincial and federal agencies. In order to service the residents of Brighton, he'll require more cabs, he told Brighton council Sept. 21.

Fares remain the same, although council is reserving the right to change to a metered system of charging customers in the future.

I hope skippy doesnt realise this is Brighton USA

A Brighton Taxi company wants to expand its business.

Appletown Taxi will ask Brighton Council tonight for additional licence plates.

The company provides taxi service around Brighton, and also takes people back and forth to Pearson Airport in Mississauga.
