Looks like my sales of silver jewellery will go up if gold continues to rise in price. Having said that perhaps more people will buy the gold for investment purposes. In reality you never get back on gold what you paid out once it's made into jewellery (except in exceptional circumstances) and it's only real usefulness would be to pawn the stuff and because people buy gold jewellery for sentimental reasons they are reluctant to do that.

It also explains the increase in adverts to buy your unwanted or broken gold jewellery.

They're expecting inflation to rise in 2010.

My guess is it will ..... very sharply.

That's the economic cycle ..... I've seen it three times already, this will be the fourth.

I never really notice when prices go up I just seem to hold conversations with people who say things like 'remember when it cost this much' for whatever it is they're talking about. I do remember things being cheaper but I just don't notice when they actually go up

Inflation in the early 1980's was by far the worst.

I still remember the price of a loaf of bread going up twice in a week by a total of 29%. We sent the lads out to the corner shop with the exact money & twice they came back for more coppers, which it was then.

If you get rapid inflation that's uncontrolled, I think you get more chaos than with a recession.

cos HMG and the banking system needs your money, they cant have you making money on bullion and not paying tax on the profits
