Security staff at Manchester Airport have been banned from using new "see-through" security scanners on passengers aged under 18.

The full-body scans, unveiled earlier this month in Terminal 2, are aimed at revealing hidden weapons or explosives, but also show people's bodies.

A civil rights group believes the scans could breach laws protecting children

I trust the civil rights group are not aware that children have been regularly used by terrorists for centuries?

I'm not sure I want anyone viewing nude kids.

They have proper detectors already, and in my view this is a step too far.

I agree looking at kids like this sends a shiver down my spine. I am also concerned they might see my little willy.

I think this is probably a step too far, and also it put kids at risk, imagine it, a 9 year old asks his mentor, "why can't I just carry this block you asked me to in my pocket, it's so uncomfortable when I walk the way you ask me to carry it" and it'll mean more children being muled leading to them getting an even earlier recruitment, maybe a better solution would be to set up a dedicated airline called Air Terror, and anyone with a suss background goes on their planes rather than one of Dickies.

If people are worried about the scanners and from what I understand the images are only outlines but show up anything that is not flesh. The images are not recorded or kept on file so why not offer the alternative of either go through the scanner or undergo a thorough search I know which one I'd rather

people can then make their own choice but I certainly think that not using them on under 18's will make children more vulnerable to use by smugglers and drug traffickers is that really protecting children ?

BTW does this see through scanning actually X-ray the body too?

Because if it don't, it's redundant already after the suicide bomber a few days ago, perhaps a couple of weeks ago in Saudi Arabia (I think) that had the bomb INSIDE his body!!!

Just missed one of the wealthy princes.
