I liked his comment 'if people don't like who I give the money to, then let them write their own cheques'. Thought he came across as I was expecting, and two of his donations were to two good projects, but I have my doubts about his last donation. But it's his money so it matter not a jot what I think. |

I don't know Sussex, I think that young lad may go far, I think his grandad will see to that. The only thing missing was subtitles for both him and the Geordie's
I take it he is the boss of addison lee

Other than his firm getting passed masses of work from the black cab trade.

He tenders for work against the radio circuits and seems to have a far better negotiating team at his disposal than the radio circuits combined. I'm not aware of any radio circuit passing him work directly though i do know they pass work on to private hire companies regularly!

Maybe he can offer cheaper fares, as he doesn't have a meter nor a run in fee.

quite possibly, though using their online fare calculator a fair amount of fares are way over what they would get charged in a taxi! |

He is an extremely successful businessman who has amassed a huge fleet of company vehicles/drivers circa 2000+ and you are a one man band. I'll grant you Mr Griffin is not part of the licenced taxi trade in London but he is a major part of the licensed private hire (minicab) trade in London. Your attempts to deride his success by calling him just "a minicab boss" are just silly. |

That was my point. Purely semantics! i'm not "deriding" him, i'm stating fact. He IS a minicab boss, a successful one i grant you but that is what he is, exactly the same as i'm just a london cabbie! He runs a minicab company that has a huge turnover along with his other enterprises..............perhaps you wish me to use the term entrepreneur as that may be more fitting ? You use the term "one man band in an almost derogatory way ? I have little ambition to be anything other than my own boss. I run one other taxi as a rental unit but in effect i work for myself and hold no ambition to run a large fleet of taxis or God forbid my own minicab company. You're obviously very touchy about it, got a thing for him have we ? |

Have they brought you out of TDO retirement then Blobby? Didn't you work for Addison Lee? (or still do) My take on the programme. Another publicity stunt, the guy came across as his usual cold miserable self. Just like the M4 Bus lane, he isn’t interested in taking on the law, he wants his company name banded about. I'd say it was taking it to a new low by involving the people he 'helped' in the North East. The London Taxi trade has been helping the war disabled, pensioners and underprivileged children for decades without crowing about it to the media. We just get on with it. Thousands benefit from the trips and charity events we hold every year. Griffin parts with 0.000001% of his bank account, and he wants it to be on telly. Did the TV company approach him? Did they hell. |

acabbie wrote: You're obviously very touchy about it, got a thing for him have we ? Nope - have seen him perform at various meetings in the past and found him an arrogant and self-promoting individual. But he is still very successful - much like many other "arrogant and self-promoting individuals"
