Golf ball fractures woman passenger's skull in Melbourne

A WOMAN whose skull was fractured by a golf ball, which struck her temple through the open taxi window in which she was a passenger in Melbourne's southwest, has been released from hospital.

Detectives are investigating the incident which occurred around 2am (AEDT) on Saturday as the taxi drove along Sanctuary Lakes Boulevard at Sanctuary Lakes, near Point Cook.

The Sanctuary Lakes woman was taken to Werribee Hospital and was transferred to St Vincents Hospital for treatment.

She was released from hospital last night.

It's not yet known from where the golf ball was hit and detectives say they're still investigating the incident.

The passenger wasn't one of tiger woods old flames by any chance or perhaps a load of lads from the local golf club out on a stag night practicing their T shots after half a dozen whiskey chasers
