Friday the 12th March 2010,

Lincoln City v Hereford.

Result, Lincoln 3-1 Hereford.

We had the fantastic honour of a visit from the Fifa World cup trophy.

Not often, (if ever we have had a trophy in the ground)

BTW for those of you who do not live in England, this is the trophy that will be awarded to the winner of a football tournament that will take place in South Africa this year, England is one of the teams taking part.

And, if certain players can keep their pants zipped, and their boots on, you never know, we might even win.

Any ABE's out there want to bet on it?

You forgot to mention that Lincoln is the ONLY uk stop on a tour of the world before the trophy reaches South Africa quite an honour for a small club but nice to see that somewhere other than one of the big grounds was chosen

And If i might remind the Scottish contingent that England are the British representatives at the World cup none of the other home nations quite made it and when you see the fans out in SA many will be holding Union Jacks up not St georges crosses

Scotland win World Cup

Scottish coach David Duke hailed the victory
Scotland have won the Homeless World Cup with a 9-3 victory over Poland.
The final of this year's competition took place at a temporary stadium in the main square of Copenhagen in Denmark.

Scottish captain Paul Smith said he was thrilled with the result and described the skill level as "exceptional".

The event, which was first held in 2003, brings together teams from around the globe. About 500 players from 48 countries took part this year.

The event aims to help people recover from homelessness by generating self-confidence, a feeling of belonging and enhanced self-esteem.

Scottish coach David Duke said: "After changing my own life through football and the Homeless World Cup it is just great that I can help others do the same. To take Scotland to victory is just superb."
