Hi, My name is Trev and I built the Taxi Fare Calculator website www.taxiroute.co.uk I would like to invite you to use my website for 2 possible reasons.. 1. If you don't already have a way to calculate estimates of taxi fares, you can use my site. 2. If you are looking for more fares then you can advertise on the site for £2 a week. breakdown your subs into quartely (or monthly) and you will get a better response, £104 (inc vat?) is a bit of a lump right now mate |

The problem that I can see is that the fare calculated is only the standard day rate and makes no allowance for traffic lights or other delays. Once a price like this is given to a customer they will expect that price regardless of road conditions or time of day or number of passengers. |

In all fairness I think most offices wont take into account traffic for long distance/airport work. |

If you was really brave I would offer it to companies for nothing for a year. Then if you are successful they would be only too pleased to pay to continue. At the moment firms get dozens of sites similar to this asking for money, which means even those that might succeed don't through lack of use. |

If you get 14days free to try it out and it makes you some money then its maybe no bad scheme. The flipside is that it will through time build up a customer base of regular users and would become a usefull database for a big national operator to wisely site and target more vehicles at..bit of a double edged sword this one

Why bother? I can calculate any fare in 15 seconds from the SatNav telling me the distance - accurate to within 30p on every one I've done so far (drops here are 30p). Miles and tenths of mile times running mile, add the difference on the first mile, job done. To make it even quicker (1 second) I have it on a spreadsheet on my phone, PDA, and SatNav (which is I admit a PDA as well). Five minute job to make the spreadsheet, one minute to update it when the tariff changes and to update the mentioned portables. Anybody want one, I charge £1.00 (one off fee) - but not to me, to charity of your choice and I trust you to make the donation yourself. Send me your Tarrif - a copy of the sheet is best so I can do day/night differences. Can supply in Excel (windows) or a possibly a version for the Palm OS. As to advertising - seems to me most firms have their own websites. I am getting a feeling of De Ja Vu - I know we have gone through this before on here. |

although you know how to work out the fare... and i have no doubt you can... can the customer? a typical fare tariff is gobledegook to most people. so much for the 1st so and so yards then another rate for the next x distance followed by a final rate on distance... unless it stops cos of a volcano... im just trying to make it easy i spoze... trev |

reading back my post above i think i need to explain more. i know the tariffs are in place for a reason. and personally i think they are needed. but they are real tricky for joe blogs to use. taxiroute is meant to be "where from, where to" and someone to get them there. hopefully everyone gets a good deal. trev |

Thats true..there were several Taxiquoter type ads doing the rounds a while back...all with the same orange livery and offering the exact same road to riches...the only differance was they wanted money up front with no trial period..and their prices were wildly innacurate partly because the nearest taxi company they could lay their hands on was often a 100 miles away from anywhere near the route in question.. |

Taxi drivers know roughly what the fair is you should be targeting people who use taxis . You are questioning taxis drivers integrity so why [edited by admin] taxi drivers off by trying to say we charge what we should not

Convince us!!! |
