Post subject:  Have you got a panic button and does it work??
Mine did last night and did the bone head on the phone didn't send anyone to give me a hand.

I collared him this morning when I knocked off, he said "I was shouting you to make sure you were OK". I said, "don't shout a driver who has pressed his panic button at 3.30am on a Sunday morning just send some drivers round to give him a hand".

Here's me rolling around on the forecourt of a 24hr garage with 2 lads while the base Op was surfing facebook.

I hope you're ok, I'm sure you are cos you've posted today :wink: We have and I think it works cos I've heard the operators dealing with emergencies. Our screens on our data heads flash up 'emergency' and the driver number. The operator will then let the other drivers know where the troubled driver is. The operator will try to contact the driver in trouble to ascertain the exact nature of the problem and will not cancel the emergency until he has spoken with the driver. The worse thing is new drivers think it's ok to use the emergency button when they have a runner :roll:

I'm OK just got a swollen jaw that's all.

The Panic / emergency button is there for a reason, when it's pressed they shouldn't spend 5 minutes shouting the driver, they should be getting some cars round there to see if he's OK or needs a hand.

I'm on with him tonight so there's going to be one hell of an atmosphere.

There's no making me feel better today Toots. She keeps telling me to jack it in and this has just made her more smug than ever. :roll: :roll:

Awww I suppose she's just worried about you. I'm sure if you made the operator look the same as you, with a swollen jaw, that would make you feel better although not entirely ethical :wink:

Hopefully I will never know if our radio panic button works, but the car has a panic button of it's own that makes a right bloody noise.

Sort of alarm, hooter, hazards all going at once. :D

Our panic button's brill, and the amount of lad's that turn up is even better. I'm starting to be convinced that there a fella's only on the job so they can turn up at panic's, we all have the rule that one night it could be you. We do get some divy's abusing it though by pressing it for non payment which you have to sort yourself. We had an Asian lad press it and the screen said "DRIVER BEING PROPERSITIONED" but when the addreenallin is flowing you sort of read that as "DRIVER GETTING HIS HEAD PANNED IN", when we turned up there was this chic in the front seat all over him and he wasn't being attacked, then there was a big fight between about forty drivers to sort out who could take the very fit young lady the rest of the way home.

Next time he presses the panic button at base, ignore the bar steward & ask him why he ain't dispatching work when he's getting a good rolling.

It looks like it's been a bad weekend all round.

I got my new taxi egg-shelled on Saturday night; very luckily it missed the paintwork & just hit the side of the off-side headlight. Very lucky indeed.

And then yesterday evening I heard two drivers had serious trouble on Sunday night; one load of punters beat up one driver & smashed up his cab & another driver's punters stole his cab & drove off with it & it's still missing.
