One of our lads was hit side on by a guy in 10reg Mini Cooper. The guy in the Mini decided to do one and not stop.

The Mini driver lost control on a bend at speed which was estimated by witnesses at 90-100MPH

Our driver got his registration number and reported it to the Police.

The Police came and ran the registration through their system, the Mini came up as a hire car.

The guy was either drunk or not authorised to drive the car or both.

The Taxi is a write off due to creasing in the roof and on the boot floor and damage done to the whole off side of the Taxi.

The driver went to the local Hospital last night and came out with his arm in a sling.

He's going to be off work for a few weeks at least.

The major hire firms are self-insuring and have to cover the vehicle, thats why you can see accident damaged late model cars for sale unrecorded

dont let them try to get out of coughing up

Sounds like the police response is proportionate to the level of injuries sustained ! i.e. not bothered unless someone killed or with life threatening injuries. Clearly the mini driver was extremely dangerous but will probably het away with this and other incidents until the day he kills someone

Or it's been hired under false circumstances?

That was a popular scam with our Bengali cousins a few years ago, one license suits all, all the brothers use the same license then claim to know nothing about the non returned hire car which is laying wrecked in a side street.
