I was this asked earlier, and said I'd put it up for discussion. so I hope I've got it right.

When the VAT increases, should the meters in the car be adjusted to offset the increase VAT the company has to pay on the radio rental income, without taking more money off the drivers by way of increased rent?

The meter fare would have to be increase to offset the VAT rise passed on as increased driver rents.

The meter rate is inclusive of VAT. So no change is allowed. You don't have one rate for drivers who are VAT registered and another for those that aren't.

I think that's the crutch of the matter, he thinks the meters should be changed to take account of the increase. So that we fall in line with every other business in passing the cost on to the public. Then in turn we, the drivers, pay extra on the radio to keep the company in budget, without having to take a drop in our income.

I think he is right, last time it increased we got an increase for the extra........I wont say anything about the recent decrease though
