End of thread.

I'll start a new one on the Euro 5 model when it arrives.

Yes mate, I can't trust the VM engine they insist on putting in the LTI cab, plus their minimum lease deal was 4 years. Mercedes is 3, at which point i'll know how the Nissans settled in and what, if any, problems its had.

If not, I'd be up for another lease deal.

Have not been posting on the forum for a few years now but I still read stuff with interest.

Anyway, The Metrocab TTT has been sold to a friend and I got a 2010 Euro 4 Vito. (170K miles fsh) from another friend.

I have only cover 500 miles so cannot speak about reliability yet. Fuel economy is pretty much the same as the old Metrocab, but the drive is so much more rewarding. It is more of a motorway tool and takes a bit off getting used to in the metropolis due to the extra width......I will put this down to a lack of confidence on my part. The Auto transmission is as smooth as silk, as are the brakes. Seating position& comfort works for me and is a mahoosive improvement upon my previous steed.

To be honest I am still getting used to all the buttons on the dashboard, the rear door opening & closing is taking a bit of getting used to for sure and the buzzers......OMG they are dam annoying. The intercom is okay on motorways and could be a bit louder but as Gbc states , it does pick up interference in town. Roof pods knock at speed, especially with a side wind.

I will be doing the servicing work myself to keep overheads down but there is so much electronic wizardry on the Vito that does not throw up codes on a normal fcr that no doubt I will have to visit Mercedes @ some stage. For example, I retrofitted a cruise control speed limiter but it can only be turned on using Mercedes Star software online!

The infamous RWS is as yet untested as the fuse is out, I am just gong to take a punt, present it @ NSL and hope for the best. I hear stories that even the latest Euro 5 RWS update is still causing the occasional problem, so I have no great faith in my Euro 4

The Nsl taxi test is due in 5 weeks so 4 x T rated tyres are required for sure.

Regards

B

If I get another cab soon I'm tempted on a Vito but,I do a lot of wheelchair work and feel the underfloor ramp on the eurocab is a real boon.

Allegedly some of the London drivers engines are packing in, some have had 2 or even 3 engines going by the London forums

Well the 5 was ok . . . :D

The euro 6 is 2.5 yrs old now and doing fine.

Be interesting to see what Merc come up with once the new all electric Viano goes on sale, but I'm more interested in the cheaper Vito tourer as that's the vehicle Penso was converting to the Vito taxi.

The UK sales director Steve Bridge reckons real time miles of 210. Now that would be something that many drivers would go for providing its not silly money.

Go for the Vito.

IMO it's a better motor.

However I'm not sure it will last as long as a TX.

But will you care in 5/6 years time?

That cab, LC60RZY is still going, its on its third owner, a polish guy from Ruislip. Both him and my mate Dave who was the second owner, have had virtually no issues even as it approaches 10. Wish I'd just kept it, I'd have saved tens of thousands.

Better than a TX, but not as good as a saloon.

In my experience, (2010 Vito) 26-28mpg average.
