On the same platform as Mr Flanagan?

Probably.

People are now saying 'at least you know where you stand with red Ken'

He's fast losing the support of the residents (big Tory voters) within the western extension of the congestion charge zone. Over two years in office and the charge still stands.

He promised to get rid of it.

Got the usual luke warm reception at KPM's. Nothing new there, after all I'm only looking to spend £38K.

Playing uninterested at the moment in the hope of some kind of upgrades.

I'm going for a silver colored one, I think they look best with the 'Taxi' markings, plus silver seems to look better for longer on vehicles.

The colour coded bumpers and side strips are going to cost over £700. FFS.

So it's the Vito.

I think you've made the right choice.

When's delivery?

I suppose before Christmas is a bit too much to ask.

Well the TX2 is still with me.

The buyer tried it on with some bullchit about only getting £9K in finance and would that be ok? You'll guess my answer.

KPM's attitute stinks. It's real take it or leave it. Just like Mann and Overton used to be like when the TX4 sales rocketed back in 2006.
So I was then going for the TX4 Silver instead, when I started thinking, 'what's wrong with the one I've got'?

Answer: Nothing. So I'm keeping it.

There's a new vito taxi out next year (vans out soon) with a new engine, and improvements to the instruments etc, so I'm guessing the current model may be discounted before then?

There's also rumours of a new engine / components for the TX4 as the current VM contract is up very soon.

And then there's the possibility of some more alternative taxis with this new age limit coming in soon.

So we'll see, meanwhile I'll stick with my current one.

And Brummie, it was going to be a two week wait if I had ordered the Vito.

Who will introduce them???
Manufacturers are not going to spend extra modifying there vehicles of such a low volume just to meet the turning circle requirement

With all that going on, you're well wise sticking with your TX2 until the dust has settled & you can see what's what.

Two weeks delivery on the Vito is exceptional, considering the delivery on alternative vehicles outside London.

What is the current situation on alternative vehicle licensing by TfL, or what are the rumours?

Are they about to license the E7 & other variants?

With the games coming, especially the Paralympics ones, and due to the Liverpool case, I personally think TFL will have to licence alternative vehicles, as some wheelchair users could be left stranded, especially those with full sized chairs

Mercedes in partership with KPM did, why shouldn't Gerry Facena and Cab Direct, they're a far larger outfit than KPM.

If there's a profit to be made, why not. Several drivers would take up an E7 with rear wheel stearing, if they could get it in for around the £31K mark.

An E7 was presented for inspection, everything has been quiet for many months now. TFL told them the COF were staying, so it's open for them to challenge in the same way they did to the Liverpool licensing authority.

Mr Facena?

That would be up to Peugeot and others that make the same vehicle to do, as they make them, cab direct and others buy the base vehicle and convert them, and I can guess MR frogs answer to that question.

They dont have this out of date rule anywhere else in the world, and as far as I am awear only London has it in the UK now, as other councils have seen the light.
Why don't you and the rest of London's finest challenge the rule???, and save 10K per cab
Where is Ell Tell when you need him

Would I be right that the COF only applies to 6 square miles of London???and that in other areas owners can buy any cab they like.

The Vito was ordered today, all black with the colour coded bumpers etc.

The salesman got the better of me, not that that's particularly difficult. #-o

After the trade in, and a deposit, it works out at about £500 per month for three years, I can live with that.

Plus a rate of 0.9% APR . . . you ain't gonna beat that.

So GBC Taxi number 4 should hit the streets from the end of next week.

They're licensed London Cabbies as well Skippy, and adhere to the same conditions as we all have to, including vehicle choice.

They're simply restricted to plying for hire in the suburbs of London, although some tend to forget that, hence the talk of Green / Yellow I.D plates in the front and rear windows with badge numbers on them.
