Post subject:  TX4 or the Vito?

I've decided to get a new Taxi.

I've never bought a new one before, but financially now is a good time for me, work is good on nights, in fact work's great at the moment compared to the last two years around this time..

I can't decide on the TX4 or the Vito.

There's some cracking offers on the TX4 at the moment, but KPM are also in the red with sales, so I'm hoping for some incentives from them too.

I could get a TX4 Silver for around £33K. £12K trade in on mine.
The Vito is £37K, but god knows what measly trade in I'll get offered.

Can't decide. :?

That means there will be a mint conditioned London 2005 TX2 Gold (120K, with a fsh and cleaner than a new cab) coming up for sale in the near future.

I'm pleased to say that the dissenters could not have been further from the truth about the TX2, It's been a great cab, and those that have followed the 'Goodbye TX1, hello TX2' thread will have noted this.

Anyone that is genuinely interested, drop me a PM.

You know what to go for mate follow your instincts. Will the Vito still be as good as your TX when it's done the same amount of miles?

I agree, although I do tend to spend a lot of time cleaning and polishing my cabs, so it probably will look as good as new in 5 years. :D

2 years and 8 months and you have only done 50,000 miles in it. You certainly do spend a lot of time polishing it. Thats less than 400 miles a week. Do you ever do any work?

Go for the Vito.

IMO it's a better motor.

However I'm not sure it will last as long as a TX.

But will you care in 5/6 years time?

I attended Mann and Overton yesterday to look, and drive the latest TX4.

It was quite impressive. Very quick compared to the first TX4 I drove a few years ago when my Taxi was getting a crash repair done. Nice new body styling, and a much improved dash with rev counter, new fuel guage etc.

The deals are quite good as well, £3K off the price of the TX4 Silver, £12K trade in, and a decent interest rate. That would only leave about £15K to repay if I put some cash down as well as the above.

We'll see.

I'm up early and off to KPM to look and hopefuly drive the Vito Taxi today.

They have an even lower interest rate, but I'm not expecting any great trade in or extra's on the taxi.

Why not ask the PCO when they will be getting rid of the turning circle, you did mention it could be in the pipeline, then you could save about £10,000 and buy a new conventional Vito, or the VW Caravel hack

I have a feeling that the Mercedes Vito Taxi is Euro V emission standard & bearing this . . .

. . . . in mind, that might be a consideration.

It's Euro 4 I think? Same as the TX4 .

But I can't see Euro 4 being a problem in 5 or 6 years when I'm due to change it.

Loved the Vito. That's going to be my choice.

Or I may keep my current taxi as it's still shining.

I'll see what it fetches when I advertise.

Plus, Boris waffles some tripe.

He'll be out in 2012. I don't think he's proved himself as a mayor so far.
