In our local paper A disabled wheelchair user is complaining that M&S has no wheelchairs for shoppers to use, she has her own wheelchair, but prefers NOT to travel in by taxi, instead gets a lift and then wants M&S to supply a chair... http://www.thisistamworth.co.uk/news/Bu ... ticle.html |

Sums it all up....Government ups the Anti on the Taxi trade to Maximise WAVs for everyone and then the Disabled punter like so many others get a neighbour to ferry them about in a saloon...What! between the Volunteers and Helpful neighbours the whole rationale of making WAVs more accessible seems to come apart.

If I ran Mobility, and to get the lowest price for a vehicle, id put it to tender, and that vehicle would be the ONLY vehicle available (i reckon a base model berlingo should do it), that should see the fleet reduced fast i think support for the disabled should be governed more, especially when i watch the "disabled" cars pull into the parking bays at Tesco and Morrisons and the driver+passenger leap out and jog into the shop |
