Almost every Driver in Dundee tonight, who have a Cygnus meter fitted, have went home ! When 6pm came to change from tarriff one to tarriff four, Yes you guessed it...the meters stayed on tarriff one !
So it seems Cygnus have sent the wrong chip to the local dealer and, rather than engage in the obvious argument with the pi$$ed up punters or, wear away the fingertips, the drivers had an early bath !

Any other LA experiencing the same problem ??

Update....The local dealer has opened up shop on the provision that no one gives him $hit..(he's a champion kickboxer...so beware) in order to change the tarriff for the Cygnus users. It seems that they did not programme the meters as far as December due to the proposed Fare increase which, was to be implemented several weeks ago but, was refused by certain members of the Trade and objected to accordingly !

Bet they're popular with the boys and girls queuing right now eh ??

Tis the season to be jolly..HA..HA..HA..HA..HA..HA..HA

I'm off out there again...many Rank spaces vacant... :D

How can they have only programmed the meters till December because they were expecting a fares increase. The trade only put in for an increase this year the meters were last changed in 2008, someone trying to pull the wool over the drivers eyes or a touch of sour grapes :D
Also if DIS were expecting to change the meters in December why not let drivers know before now, they would have saved themselves a lot of grieve. :?

it was the sherrif meters that were playing up,i think some had there meters changed to the new tarrif then had to have it changed back when the increase was cancelled, this may explain why the christmas tarrif never came on,one driver i talked to had to wait in queue for 2 hours, once up and running they then had to endure the police doing taxi checks right into christmas morning (i wonder if they were on time and a half?)

The fact the fares increase was appealed had nothing to do with Cygnus meters not changing to the Christmas tariff and to suggest otherwise is bull [edited by admin], another attempt to blame and discredit the people who want to make taxis drivers jobs and conditions better.

tone the cabbies i talked to all had sherrif meters, there meters clicked over at christmas last year but not this year, apart from the ops who thought the fare increase was going ahead and went and had there meters changed only to have them changed back and be reimbursed by the council there has been no other meter changes unless the ops have been fiddling with the meters themselves, about 4 year ago the same thing happened,i was one of the unlucky ones and lost out over the whole christmas period ,i tried putting the extras on manually but got a lot of grief, also if i remember correctly there was a bit in the press about there could be problems changing the meters to the given amount maybe it was on the council website but it was certainly mentioned

I had to have my Cygnus meter reprogrammed a month or so back because the calendar didn't take account of Christmas and New Year enhancements this year. I believe Sherriffs had to be done as well.

As I surmise, the calendars on the meters have a limited 'shelf life.' This doesn't normally matter too much because regular tariff changes will keep ahead of the game. However, if, like us, you haven't had a tariff change for a couple of years provision has not been made for the calendar to continue running.

Another possibility is that the Bank Holidays were announced after the last calendar update was carried out.

I think that possibility can be discounted. The bank holidays are known years in advance. If Christmas falls on a weekend, the bank holidays are always the following week days.
