Got a phone call last night asking me if I could cover a contract this morning. The person offering it me bidded £16 lower than anyone else, now he's having trouble getting drivers to cover it because they aren't making anything. I told him to do one.

Good on ya....I hope theirs a lot up here that get burned too with their loony Bids, its the Councils own doing in part by advertising them to all and sundry where as before it was advertised more locally to the work itself....And is it bloody worth it anyway, having to fill in 36 sheets of "A4" with a load off guff for each tender where as a 2 years ago it took a price written on one "A4" form....

Worlds gone mad..I think I want to get off the School run Rollercoaster.. :?

You should have told him you would cover the job, but at your rate and not his. That way he would soon see how out of pocket he is.

a chap was doing a school run into the same school i run to and lost it to a cheaper bidder

he was getting £55 each way, the cheapo bid £40 each way

not long into the run the new car rang for cover, the previous car did it for 3 days at £60 each way (metered)

i said the new guy may have got some juicy cash work maybe
