Wife had to get insurance that lets her get paid a mileage allowance for taking our son to a special needs school. The only exemption was the car could not be raced around the Nurburgring, So could this policy be used for hire and reward??? as there is no mention that it cannot be done on the policy |

It's a private toll road at €14 a lap & the track has a barrier start & coned off finish, so you can only go round one lap at a time. |

I might be able to help. My user name gives the game away a bit. I am now a licensed (working part time) PH driver and am also an insurance broker and have handled taxi and PH insurance for over 20 years. You need to look at the "Limitations to Use" paragraph on your wife's certificate. If you want to copy the exact paragraph wording back into the forum I will gladly "translate" it for you. If you also state the name of the insurance company (not the broker or agent) that will help. Before anyone asks, I am not going to advertise insurance or even say who I work for, however I am always happy to try answer general insurance questions. In return I know I can always seek advice relating to my PH driving activities. |

That is a bit of a nasty grey area. Most certificates on both types will say something like "Including the carriage of goods for hire and reward". I'll go away and scratch my head a bit on how respond more fully. |

prediction the two are seperated by the number of drops and/or prebooking vs ad-hoc except CIS never did, they were "business use" and business type=hire and reward oh, and courier (which is just another name for carrier) is 50% extra |

I think you have summed it up pretty well. Looking at a dictionary definition, a haulier dilivers goods and materials and a courier delivers packages and documents. Its one of those things where you know in your mind how to differentiate but I have yet to find an exact wording that draws a line between the 2. On a mission now! |

well i was a courier delivering palletised loads, 1 to 4 drops per day and so are many more so i was a haulier then?..and arent packages goods or materiels? |
