Post subject:  New Insurance Law - CIE

Just in case all you luverly people haven't heard about this. This new law was signed off on 4/2/2011. Long story short, the DVLA Road Fund License database is now to be cross referenced against the Motor Insurance Database. If you have a vehicle that is taxed but not insured, you could find yourself getting a fixed penalty notice, though I understand this is not likely to start until June. I shan't go into too much detail, just Google "Continuous Insurance Enforcement".

For those that don't know, you can check your vehicle is shown correctly on the insurance database by going to www.askmid.com. Typo's happen so if your reg no is typed in wrong by your broker (I've NEVER done that!) or insurance co you could have an interesting chat with a traffic officer who is wanting to impound your vehicle. Realistically it can take 48 hours from signing up for a new policy or renewal for the vehicle to show on the database.

Apologies if I've gone over old ground and wasted 3 mins of my time posting this.
