About a tenner in a black cab?

Not if the driver gets lost.

East European black cab driver, (female)

Cost the punter £14 driver did not have a clue, apparently.

Dodgy driver in a kosher cab?

Does that happen?

£14 is what it would cost, more at night.

Who decided it was the 'wrong' route? Is the punter a London Cabbie?

There are at least half a dozen reasonable routes from Padders to The Aldwych depending on how many roads are closed, dug up, being re-surfaced, closed for security reasons, broken down bus for the third time that day, building works, gas mains, water works, motorcycle demo . . .

I know for a fact The Mall was closed towards T Square for most of today, and that would have been my chosen route for the above trip.

Yep, two years on the knowledge learning every nook and craney of my sector and I am amazed how often I get a punter who THINKS that they know a better route than me.

£14 is about the right price on rate 1 (daytime) I covered Paddington to Fleet st two years ago on rate one and that was £15-16.

Before 8am then I would run it straight along Oxford st (when open) then run it straight down Kingsway. If Oxford st is closed then I would use Wigmore st.

How on earth can you remember a fare from two years ago?

I would strugle to tell you what I did yesterday.
