Post subject:  accident

This morning I witnessed an accident at a junction. Basically there was a car turning right from the major road into the minor road that I was waiting to come out from. There was a 4X4 in front of me and as the car turned right, the 4X4 pulled out from the minor road and hit the rear of the turning vehicle. This all happened right in front of me. The 4X4 stopped momenterily and then sped away. Of course I was already writing down the registration number. I gave the details to the other driver.
Being a nosy git, when I got home I ran the number plate through askmid. Lo and behold there was no record of insurance. So I thought that I would check for the make and model on the parts site that I use. Guess what, no record of any vehicle with that registration.
Do you think the driver that was hit will be able to claim?

run the reg into ebay as a "for sale" to see what it throws up, or "we buy any car" or parkers

The Driver who was hit will be able to claim through the MIB (Motor Insures Bureau), this is where all the Insurance Companies pay into a pot to cover for uninsured loss.. The drivers no claims might ake a hit until they sort it out but at least he won't be without repairs.
