Post subject:  Income Protection for Taxi Drivers

Hello

My name is Richard West from Swanland Insurance & Mortgages and I specialise in Income Protection for Self Employed Taxi Drivers.

I wanted to enquire, what would you do or how would you pay your bills if you were unable to work because of an accident or were too ill to work?

There is a new product which has recently launched called “Bills & Things”

It is a policy that pays upto £1000 per Month for upto 2 years

No proof of earnings required
Can cost from as little as £1 per day*

• *price quoted based on a male aged 40. He wanted the maximum of £1000 per Month to pay his bills upto the maximum period of 2 years
• This would cost £26.99 a Month, 89p a Day

If you would like to know more, please call me on 01482 300472 to discuss further

I don't know, I don't run the forum or know the advertising rates.

I love these scams , most would rent the vehicle out, plus whats the chances that you be off a month before they pay out

Wow, that's a bit harsh, I can assure you this is no scam. Im a genuine guy trying to earn a living, like all of you. I'd also like to point out who else would offer you income protection without having to declare your earnings?

There is an option to be paid from day but then you have to declare your earnings, either way I can help

I think the problem is that no-one in the trade really trusts anyone outside of it. TBH most don't trust anyone in it.

Thus the selling of what might be a good thing is treated with utmost suspicion, which those selling take personally.

If I was going to give anyone any advice on selling to the trade it would be to not bother.

We have the LTDA sickness policy.

Apparantly its one of the better ones, but I've no idea who underwrites it.

I just think there are too many exclusions and get out clauses within these income protection schemes.

That said, the advertiser does have a valid point, what would any of us do if we broke our leg and was out of the picture for 4 months?

This was being discussed between drivers here, but, not just for illness. Some felt that a fund could be set up but it's difficult to iron out the criteria for payment from any fund that may be set up

Post subject:  I have a policy for accident/income through Pioneer

It pays out after 4 weeks of incapacity to work through illness or accident. Its expensive but if it would be worse if i couldnt pay the mortgage, that would be much worse.Everyone tells me these banks call in for the keys VERY QUICKLY in the event of non payment. It really is for mortgage, food and bill money.I live alone so no partners income to fall back on.

If you are struggling to afford to live at the mo then best you save your money and live for now, maybe put £25/£50 in an account you dont touch to have "something to fall back on"
