It's that gezza with all those green trucks!! ![]() His names on em but he sold out years ago, now hes CEO of the firm that owns ES..... By 2002 the company was experiencing financial difficulties caused by the fuel crisis. In 2001 the haulage business had posted its first loss, with the fan club making more money than the haulage business. In November 2003 Edward Stobart sold the group to his brother William and his business partner Andrew Tinkler, who together owned a civil engineering company that specialises in railway maintenance, WA Developments, based in Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria. Eddie Stobart Group Ltd. became a subsidiary of W.A. Developments (International) Ltd, a parent company of WA Developments created to purchase Eddie Stobart Group Ltd. Following further growth, the company had previously been looking to move from its Carlisle base and was considering a relocation further down the M6 motorway to Warrington. These plans were rejected due to potential job losses in Carlisle. Stobart had also been considering expanding into the air freight business. On 7 April 2006 Haughey Airports Limited – the company which operated Carlisle Airport – was acquired by the Stobart Group parent company WA Developments International, through a subsidiary company Stobart Air Ltd. |

there is a member of the Stobart family on the board i believe but it is a PLC these days involved in Ports, railways airports and lorries The company was founded by the father of Eddie Stobart but he was the one that turned it into a major player but sadly it looks like retiring early hasn't paid off mind you he wasn't very popular round here when he shut down the local depot and told the drivers they either had to move or find another job ! |
