Being an older person I find that my views are not accepted by the younger drivers, their views that I should be at home with my slippers on, retired, put out to grass, I took December off last year thinking I was going to give up the job, but second thoughts I thought no I want to carry on taxiing

I an constantantly threatened by younger taxi drivers on the slightest wrong doings, or even the way i speak rearding the trade

only tonight being third car on the rank a punter comes up and opens the door, says I want you to take me home, I says no go to first car, he says nope I want you to take me home, sod them in front dont like them, gets in slams the door and told me to set off

when I got back to the rank
all hell broke out some rental driver no names mentioned started the big heave ho that I was out of order, [for eff sake he got a crap job, mmm so did i but carried on ] he told me if I was 20 years younger he would have floored me, I told him to calm down after he was spitting feathers and his face turned red, that I wou;ld not make dialec with him from his filthy lauanguage and threats, and told him lets have some decencey, but no the threats still came,

I told my wife about this and she said this would never happen in her workspace, not allowed

York TAXI drivers have now a very young and agressive set of drivers, but at least i go home with no pressure, its a bit of an hobby to me, taxi driving something to get me out of the house, whilst they sweat to rake up the rent

so to protect myself, stuff the council I have ordered cameras front back and interior, not for traffic or passengers but from taxi drivers

with black box that will cap em

in all my life i have never experienced aggression againsted a person in other employment as in taxi drivings, is it something to do with earnings, ie you are earning more than me, i cant work it out, alot is to do with greed, i find most who are taxi drivers , who in the first place are low skilled people, myself i am a quilified engineer who chosed the pathe as a break and found ,ureka, it pays, not a lot but it pays . simples

I think you should report exactly what happened to your licensing officer.

CCTV will be a good aid, but you must make a complaint.

Definitely put a complaint in, and get them to write to all drivers pointing out that its the public's prerogative to take any cab off any rank they want

Any Cab on any rank is for hire, we have as a matter of coutesy in York always sent people to the first cab in line, if these morons are not being couteous to you then treat them with the contempt they deserve, or report them to your organisation representative, who I am sure will invite them to a place to discuss the matter.

Remember you also have the full weight of the law on your side, so when one of these ass wipes threatens you, be very polite and make a note of his name and badge number and report them to the police

There's no need at all to apologise to me I just think it's a shame that this is what some members of the trade are stooping to, but, I think you'll find a lot of it is due to the lack of work.

When times are good you will find that the full time drivers don't mind the part timers or the retirees, but, when things are tight they tend to be a little less understanding or obliging when having to share what little work there is with somebody who doesn't really need to do the job.

I hope it all works out for you and doesn't unnecessarily escalate into to something stupid. Getting advice from a trade rep is probably the best route to take

I used to carry bouncers round when i had the Tourneo, big lads, up for a laugh and loved my roof mounted TV/DVD player wit, ahem, adult films, so when i had problems it was a phone call and two slabs of stella to sort it

The customer had the right to choose which car he took so you haver done nothing wrong but there are shinanegans everywhere yesterday i was at the train station 2nd rank a punter comes up to the first rank car who immediately sent him to another car from his firm 3rd rank !!!!

Mind you nothing came off the next train so it didn't do him much good but this is a constant problem the muslim drivers make sure that the non muslims don't get any fares
