As we all should have by now have a photo driving licence, what would the problem be if an extra symbol was placed on it like a taxi picture So you could have taxi then taxi + e the E is for trailer. The photo licence has to be renewed every 10 years so if you want to drive a taxi you just tick the extra box that the DVLA could provide on the application form, they already have full access to your details so could conduct the CRB check as well And if you want to leave the trade then after a few years decide to take up driving again you can do so immediately And the best bit is the licence would last for 10 years instead of yearly or for however long the council decide |

No CC, but look at this logical, if you pass your LGV or PSV it goes on your licence does it not, the same thing could apply to taxi drivers |

What did you pass your test by not knocking down the man with the red flag
I am not quite sure on this but I think you have to change to one by a certain date if you still have the old red book style one |

You only get a photo-licence if you make a new application or have to send your old licence to DVLA to have adjustments made to it (points, change of address etc.) However I have also heard that if you send your paper licence away to be adjusted they will send it back unless you ask for the new photo type - can't see that being correct though. |

You don't need to change the paper one when points are added. You do if you want them taken off. |

In Brum you don't get a 'taxi' licence any more with the old paper DVLA licence. |

I think you must have blinked and missed the 25-year period between the demise of the little red book and the advent of the photocard, which was filled by a green paper licence.
I've still got my green paper licence and can keep it for another 20-odd years until I'm 70 or unless I change address in the meantime. Or die. |
