My TomTom 750 GO liVE!! I had it for a Christmas present. The screen has completely frozen and on the rare ocassion it unfreezes it flashes across. The other day I had a job to Coventry and the bleedin' thing switched to a map of Liechtenstein. The passenger said he didn't fancy going through there just to get to Coventry.

Should still be under guarantee. Tell them to fix it. |

Have you tried the reset "pin hole". You should have a small "pin hole" in the back of your device. Insert pin/pointed item into the hole and your should feel it gently suppress/release, it generally resets the tom tom/re boots it. Other than that contact the "Tom Tom" people on line. I have always found them very helpful. |

Tell them to fix it. I have and they are sending a transit box pre-paid on Special Delivery for me to send it back in. But there's a big. big problem!! I have to send it to a repair centre which is in Scotland!!! I asked for one in England, but the only one in the UK is in Scotland!!

The reset on mine is by holding down the 'On' button for 15 seconds; done that. I spoke to TomTom customer service; they emailed a set of instructions to remove and reinstall the programme; done that, still did not work. I don't think it's not a software issue, because it seems to be getting warm when it's swiotched on. When it stops working and I blast cold air from the air-con at the screen it starts to work again, but only for less than a minute. It's knackered; I know it is and I think it's the hardware. |

It finds the satellites OK, but it has always had a slow or very slow screen from new. |

Take it back to the shop it was bought from, as it's still under guarantee it's their problem not TomToms (sale of goods act). The shop might try and fob you off saying you have to send it back to the manufacturer but at the end of the day if it does need to go back to TomTom then it's up to whoever sold it to deal with that not you. If the shop agress it's knackered you might get a replacement straight away, or they'll send it back to TT. If they argue that you have to send it back remind them that the contract is with the seller not the manufacturer and if they still don't agree pay a visit to trading standards. If this is the case it may well be less hassle and time for you to go direct to TT depending on how much effort you want to put into it. |

Surely you don't need a SAT NAV to get from Brum to coventry ? |

I've always found that Smartnav is the best and it's had live traffic info for years

Tile Hill private estate to be precise. We don't have Coventry in the Brum Knowledge and if the passenger had been a foreigner without a 'scooby' where he was going, I might have been stuffed. As it was, the punter was a Coventry native going home. |

If this is the case it may well be less hassle and time for you to go direct to TT depending on how much effort you want to put into it. Been there, done that too. The first thing I did was to phone Brum Trading Standards and log the incident with them and get advice. The problem I have at the moment is that it was a Christmas present from my sons and son No 1 can't find the f***ing receipt. I took the view that sending it back directly to TomTom for repair would probaly save about 2 weeks in time for the repair to be turned around. And I would be sure it was being repaired by the manufacturer and not some geek guy working for TechGuys thinking he knows what he is doing and 'ballsing' the whole device. TomTom send the transit box to my address, which should arrive today and pay for the Special Delivery postage, so it does seem I have chosen the best option. Receipt please, son No 1!!! |
