It'll never pass imo purely because of the method of execution. Not that I'm particularly against capital punishment but I'd rather it was a bit more humane

How do you know what the method of execution might be if they passed capital punishment?

I know the epetition states hanging, but that's not a given.

You could have stoning; in both its forms.

Would that be having them thrown, being buried under them or smoking to achieve the aim

There have been numerous cases over the years where the innocent have been convicted, sometimes with the active connivance of the government and police.
The Guildford 4 and Birmingham 6 spring to mind, although there have been many others.

For those of you who have signed this and those thinking about it, ask yourselves "What is an acceptable amount of innocent people executed?"

The method is irrelevant. The object is to execute the guilty, not the innocent.
Until we have a legal system which is free from error, I will not be signing.

I will not go along with it either.

What does annoy me is that people want it especially for different parts of society i.e police and very emotively children................But and I do mean but! every one's life has the same value, and they deserve the right to the same protection and level of punishment as the next person, and police officer or not an innocent person could still be executed regardless.

Now if you want me to sign a petition whereby life means life then I am all for it, and that all games are taken off of them, and there are bread and water meal times (if they are good), and that they are given such a dreadful time whilst they are in................then bring it on.

I don't suppose the advances in technology and DNA since the last hanging in 1964 will make a difference to you.

You could always leave it to the jury to decide on the penalty, as they will have heard all the facts and convicted.

And as for bent evidence from a copper; well if someone has been hanged because of same, then the copper(s) are also guilty of murder with the same consequences.

The whole piont of the death penalty is that somehow crime falls and even criminals become more careful in there attacks on people when committing their daily routines, lest they murder and have to face the consequences.

No, unless you are telling me that the system is now infallible?

You can free someone from a prison cell if a mistake has been made.
You can't free someone from the grave.

BTW, can you tell me how many of the policemen and government officials responsible for convicting the Birmingham 6 ever faced prosecution, let alone spent any time in jail?

And could you answer this:

Quote:
"What is an acceptable amount of innocent people executed?"
