I was having a natter with my next door neighbours visiting brother in law last evening. He's 72 and been a cab driver for many years and we were comparing notes on how things are in our respective manors. He was bemoaning the LA issuing to many licenses, exhorbitant insurance and fuel costs, too many "non local" drivers coming into the trade and a general decline in business. He was saying at his age he is sometimes working 60/70 hours a week, yes at his age, to make ends meet because of poor returns on his pension and savings. His manor? Perth - Western Australia!

I said at least they get a bit more sun. He was saying his insurance premium is $AUS4000 as only 2 insurance companies are offering cover for taxis in Perth.

I wonder why if it's loaded up in the same manner it is here, Rooflight Rally Championship by the sound of things, we have a baron here whose been told his fleet is with the last insurance firm that will touch him, shame the companies don't work on the individual rather than the whole, I had a 30% hike this year on my policy, and I've done nothing to make that happen, so I'm another £300 out this year and all because of other bad drivers and the false claim culture, so thx again Mustafa Crash and Ivan Hitanotherone for covering the job 24/7 driving around tired and too fast.

And before anyone reads that and drops me the card, that is how it is I'm afraid, ask to see the data and see whose names are on it, and realise this, they don't have to have any loyalty to the job, they can simply flee again once they've ruined it, on the flip side in their favour, there are those that lie to them to get them to come here, i.e Baron Robin Barsteward who just wants them to operate his modern day outdoor Beaulieu and sees them as plenty more where they came from.

the aussies age is a factor against him as far as insurance is concerned, and 4000AUD is £2500 - i bet i could find drivers here paying that
