Just out of interest what's everybodys average fare distance, that is from flag drop to drop-off, and is that as PH or HC ?

I'd say the average for me is (PH);
50% less than 1 mile
45% 1-2 miles
4% 2-4 miles
1% 4+ miles

And it's the 50% that go less than a mile that are the biggest moaners about the cost of taxi's and the ones most likely to ask for a discount !

I'll also add that the distance to pick-up from plotting area is usually less than 1/2 mile.

I would say 70% between 1 & 2 miles.

10% lower, 20% higher.

The first mile is usually the most expensive mile. Here the first mile would cost £3.20 on day rate then it is £1.40 per mile.
Most of ours are between 1/2 miles and 1 1/2 miles.

In my manor the 1st mile is £3.78 and then £1.98 per mile thereafter. PH are all metered at the same rate as HC's and both Ph and HC can charge .60p on the meter as a booking fee for phone jobs. I am PH and find my average job is £9.20. Around here the HC's tend to get the "bunny hops" and the PH's the longer jobs or so it seems.

This Friday Night and Sunday morning were well below parr though. Worst since mid January.

At a guesstimate mines will be about...thats percentage of runs carried out and not a percentage of miles covered...

10% Under 4 Miles
20% 4 to 10 Miles
25% 10 to 30 Miles
20% 30 to 50 Miles
15% 50 to a 100 Miles
10% 100 Miles Plus

At Certain times of of Year the 100 Miles plus runs can account for 30% of all runs, Its a rural area So goes with the Shooting, Fishing and Hill walking seasons...

I'd call that a result, even better if you could get them to do you a favour and then lay £4 on the table afterwards.

If it's on the fare table it is.

They're not the only ones.

with us its 80% under 1 mile
15% 1 to 2 miles
5% 2 miles +

Avarage fare about £3.50

and on rank work 99% under 1 mile I only get what the Asians don't want if the fare is only about half a mile or so they send them across to me otherwise I don't get a look in

The booklet handed out by our Council specifically forbids it.

The booking charge is on the fare chart issued by the council so perfectly legit. I can sometimes end up driving to one of the outlying suburbs for a short job and it does help. We can also charge .20p per additional passenger where more than one.

Only 20p per additional passenger eusasmiles.zip

we get 70p and a booking fee of up to £12 to cover jobs from one village to another where the dead mileage is more than 50%

70% over 100 miles and 30% under 100 miles and no passengers, that's what I call a result
