| Post subject: | London Taxi Drivers Forum, a UCG debacle |
A few weeks ago I joined the LTDF mainly looking for information about weekend garage openings and discovered what I thought was a forum for london cab drivers to discuss issues. In fact the rules of the forum go along the lines of "everyone is entitled to their opinion and we must respect that" On reading some of the topics i noticed arguments going on between a couple of members of the forum and followed the debate. It seemed by the posts that some forum members believed this particular member was some kind of infiltrator from either TFL or Addison Lee who was trying to agitate the forum members. Eventually this individual deleted his/her account to the cheers and back slapping of the members involved in his removal. Now a few days later on reading one particular thread I put forward a view that was "not totally" in line with the general thinking. Suddenly members started posting in disagreement with my view and despite my acknowledging their right to disagree I could not see it totally in the way they did. It wasn't long then for the accusations we're being thrown at me, from being called a face (a*s*h*le), to being an infiltrator from Addison Lee and having my own agenda??? Finally when I still was not prepared to see it their way I was banned from that forum. Unfortunately the main instigator to my removal was one of the Moderators who happened to be a member of the United Cabbies Group. Now the UCG on paper seem to be talking the talk, i.e they advertise as being a democratic body who's sole aim is to pursue the best interests of London Cabbies, however if this forum run by its members is anything to go by I would suggest it has nothing to do with the best interests of London Cabbies rather its pursuit is the interests of a very select and intolerant minute number of its membership and as for being democratic I think we need not go any further. It is unfortunate this forum has managed to use the title "LTDF" as it is likely that others similar to me will think this is the voice and thoughts of the trade when it clearly is not, so to avoid being brainwashed into the UCG way of thinking I would suggest that if anyone is thinking of becoming a member of that forum they should think about it seriously beforehand or end up being led down a blind alley. |

I wouldn't be worrying if I were you. The main 3, or 4, Posters on this Forum, no longer drive a Taxi. I would guess that, apart from the News Section, they amount to over 80% of the Postings. "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose." |

I just had a quick look on the London Taxi Drivers Forum and the Home Page just made me laugh!! So much so that I had to; ![]() The Home Page reads; Welcome to the LTDF - The London Taxi Drivers Forum. "The true voice of the London Taxi trade!" London's Taxi drivers are world renowned for their opinions, so let us hear yours! This is the No1 place for you to exchange your thoughts with your colleagues. Whether they are trade related issues or not, your views are always welcome. We allow freedom of speech & democracy, something other blogs and websites don't. This forum is apolitical, and is open to all Licensed London Taxi drivers whether they are affiliated to a trade organisation or not! So we appear to have lies on their Home Page. That's a good start ain't it guv!!! |

Herd mentality. You tow their line, or you pi** off. Shouldn't worry about it, that's the nature of taxi forums. |

Let me guess, the bloke named Dizzy didn't agree with your views so he blocked your account? This is the man who was telling everyone to join the RMT a couple of years ago until he 'left', now it's the UCG, next it'll be . . . . ? Let them get on with it, we've cleared most of them out of Tweetalondoncab with their trouble making agenda. I just accepted years ago that some people were born to start fights, so let them get on with it. |

There's been several incidents attacking some of the core members over recent weeks, from what I understand some of those involved, a few as always, are now banned from the @cabup / @tlcchair accounts, with more to follow. As the hash tag said, clear out the deadwood. Don't need them, never will. |

Clearly he must be someone full of his own importance. Sadly I think someone like him damages the organisation he belongs to far more than any benefit he delivers. I think the UCG is some respects are right to want to challenge TFL a little more robustly than other Cab driver unions are at the moment, but chanting demo, demo and shouting down anyone with even the slightest different take on a subject is reminiscent of nazism. Lets be honest here, if he was unhappy within the RMT he must be sooo out on the left of politics even his own mother must be worried

No, not left, he's very far to the right. I believe he left over a little 'EDL incident'. But he's a member on here, or at least he was. I'm sure he can pop over in between banning fellow cabbies / freedom of speech and explain his position on that, and his political viewpoint.

Now that doesn't really surprise me, to be honest anyone that far away from the center politics left or right seem to be very similar character, demand the right to be heard but don't want to hear anyone else. It wasn't even that I totally disagreed with his(their view) it was just a case of suggesting they focus there efforts without without being hypocritical, but hey once a hypocrite and all that. I'll be very pleased to exchange views with him on here, trouble is though he couldn't handle being found out on there so I doubt whether he'll be commenting. Cheers anyway for the info |

Welcome. We used to have Terry Flanagan on here from the London GMB Minicab section. He had some interesting viewpoints as well.

Fortunately although we share the same forename we do not share the same union or profession as I am a london green badge holder, although I don't mean that disrespectfully as there's nothing wrong with proper licensed minicabs working the suburbs

I created this website to expose the sinister face of the LTDF forum AKA United Cabbies Group. Enjoy ! http://theandersonshelteruncensored.blogspot.co.uk/ |
