What is the general consensus on pirating, although illegal for private hire to ply for trade in this way, i see day in day out private hire doing this, how many hackney drivers who were privates previously did ply for trade in this way ? Speaking to a few friends in the trade they say they have no alternative than to do this from time to time. Hackney drivers will obviously be [tut-tut] off at this but from the views i have gathered, when private hire are in the city to pick up legit fares they get booked for parking illegally,,blacks do this too but imo they get away with murder, the rank on sauchiehall st in charing x glasgow i think can sit up to 20 taxis,,yet every weekend you see them literally spilling onto the motorway hard shoulder,,however the police turn a blatant blind eye to this yet when we pick up outside nightclubs we get booked, until there is a fairness in how we are treated i think pirating will always be there.
