Let me tell you something, you like I years ago had this dream of being free of a radio circuit, I used to think wouldn't it be great if.....

Reality is I woke up and realised if I wanted free it would cost me, I paid up and joined the club.

Wouldn't it be great if it was free to join?

YES!

But when you join so does everyone else, got the picture yet? all you will achieve is the same as you have now, you won't survive INdy, you'll need a radio and you'll still be having to start at 7am and can't finish until 6pm, if you want to kill the last bastion of freedom for what is 3 years radio fees go ahead, but I strongly urge you to think about it as I did, once the big company has 100% control you might as well work for Tesco, think about it, hopefully the commission will see through and put these demanders back in place and give the LO better tools to resist them, but if they win, they kill the job and it becomes a job.

So how many of London's 25,000 or so drivers belong to a circuit?

Be far better to form a co-operative then. Is this an advert for one of the larger companies?

No, the complete opposite in fact, it's large firms that are damaging the job with rules and turning everyone into a number instead of a name.

The point to the thread is that I see it that some think if they could get free of a circuit and be Indy all their problems will go away, they have this flawed outlook that it is only them that will think that way, reality is it will be all and sundry thinking the streets are paved with gold and swamping will happen.

One of the interesting points from the commission is the polution aspect of too many idle cabs, it's good to see they have spotted this already and perhaps those responsible for road planning could be enlightened as well and stop installing systems that simply block the road up negating all the cars de-smog systems.

But getting back to my point, I feel there are many folks trying to buy last nights gig tickets without realising the said ticket has become worthless and there is a bin full of them stood right next to them.

I'm not sure I do dream of a radio-free future.

I do however dream of a future where all licensed vehicles can pick up off the street.

What so parasite hire can sit 20 yards away from a rank and intercept the ranked cabs?

Jeeezus, it's criminal that someone whose supposed to be as educated as you can't see this is what will happen.

What will you tell the widow's when their husbands got knifed over a £3 job, because that is where your dream is heading, it's bad enough now with flagging.

If this is all motivated to protect the customer there is a simple way to do it, regardless of a booking the customer is always insured in a PHC, the driver however is not and neither is the car and a £5000 or 12 mth sentence is applicable if found to have genuinely been pirating.

I know it sounds drastic, but the punishment is there to disuade rather than be laid on someone, risk vs reward, and at all times the customer is covered and so is any 3rd party vehicle and it's occupant's that the unbooked car comes into contact with, it's just a tweak of insurance rules required to protect the innocent.

Something else I'm going to suggest soon in the LO is this

All badge holders both PH and Hack will pay £10pa on top of their badge fee for the employment of a dedicated stinger officer, here that is £30000 pa ample to employ two or three part time officers between 10pm and 4am whose mission will be to approach suspected pirates and check they are sitting genuinely waiting for a customer.

I know all the bypass routines so I will be writing up a guideline for the LO to consider when the officer finds our smart arse has got the office to write him in the book, I'm not going to say how but lets just say a liar can always be read and delt with, as eddie just said, time has come for ph to stick to what it was originally designed to do, service the pre booking customer and nothing more, you aren't taxis at all and why on earth you get a say in any taxi business is beyond me, but I will add this, I've done a lot of thinking over the past two years and should my job become untenable due to the likes of yourself I have a plan B that is going to make you wish you'd never opened your mouth, I know just how to smash you to bits in the pocket, and I am goiing to put that in place should I need to.

Nobody who is issued a plate free who then sells it has any credibility imo, do as I say not as I do I think is the correct mentality description.

Surely it's not for a parasite hire driver to tell you this, but you will need to change the 1976 act before your LO can legally do that.

Are you a parasite hire driver then, I thought you were a private hire driver, someone as high profile as yourself surely wouldn't allow themselves to get caught would they?

Thx for the heads up on the law though, best be contacting the right people then hadn't I, thing is our LO's do go out but they are known faces, is it against the law for them to challenge a suspect?

So are you saying that anyone who profits from a plate has no credibility?

What rules :? How can rules be damaging?

They can get free all they need to do is get an operators licence, which is a lot cheaper than a years worth of circuit fees.

I think this was touched on more to do with a reason for restriction as oposed to saying you can't earn enough. It seems to me that the commission is not interested if you can or can't earn a living and are more concerned with the public interest and making things easier to apply without so much red tape

No, I'm saying if you were given one so you could op from the road because you desired one so bad, it's a bit poor form to then sell it and then go banging on about restriction's, basically it's an abuse of trust, proffiteering on purpose.

I'll tell you the story of my plate shall I.

I bought it from my former PH company boss, I say boss but he was more like an uncle in a way and he was one of the first people in my working life I felt respect from, he was issued it as part of an addditional 50 plates issued in 1985, I got so fed up with bad jobs, discounts and stitch you up operators I took my PHC off the road and drove for him as he'd had a run of bad drivers who both smashed the car and neglected to pay in, at the time my area was de-regulated and as long as you bought a WAV you could have a plate free, I bought the saloon plate instead as I wanted to drive a car rather than a van and it had lower costs, so my investment would be got back in £10k cars rather than £22k WAV's, shortly afterwards the SUD said we were flooded and we re- regulated, as time went on the value increased on it, it's not what I'd call a lot of money and anyone with a brain would buy one rather than pay rent as the cost is gotten back within 3 years.

My whole plan was to have a job secured until I retired, making a profit didn't ever come into it, I just wanted to be in control of my own destiny, then along come the Johnny Lately's plating up as many PHC's as they can and charging the driver for the use of it, this kinda went south on them when PH became a dead loss and they couldn't get driver's, so they turned to immigrants, first the ones who'd come here on their own accord and now by having training camps in those countries, as you may have seen today there have been bad figures on the employment front, but we still managed to find 175k of immigrants a job, probably because they are chicken feed jobs and the government will make up the rest and more UK money will leave the country and make eco recovery even harder, don't believe me, the reason it's so quiet now is the British are on the dole and the immigrants aren't spending they are draining us, something I've been trying to say for the last 3 years, but oh no Doom dares to speak so we'll label him a racist, well let me tell you it's not racial issue to me, I like a lot of the migrants, but I see the damage they are doing and long term you are going to be sorry about it when you can't afford anything and everything is falling apart, they will move on and laugh at us, and we will deserve it because it's typical Brit greed that caused it, wealthy people who want their house painted for £100 rather than getting a local bloke in because he's priced it realistic to what he needs to price it to to be worth him doing it.

Anyway, back to the plate, from my angle I see lots of people wanting in because they think it's a great way to fast buck, what they don't realise is if they get their way there won't be anything worth having out there, it's been tried the world over and the world over it fails, yet there are still some hell bent on destroying the job.

Anyway, I'll leave you to think it over, and remember in future if you do get your way and you then find yourself put out to grass, you did it to yourself, right now I hate to admit I'm British, what surrounds me isn't British (no ref to migrants I mean locals) the very thing that made this country is gone and now it's a [edited by admin] pit full of climbers who will walk on your head if they have to.

p.s, a funny thing today, Ronnie Biggs is dying and says he's sorry for what he did, as he didn't really do much but get caught and then escape I don't think he should have any regrets myself, in the 60's it was hard and grim to make a living, he chose a short cut he thought would make his life better, he tried to steal from the real thieves, safe passage Ron.

So who's worse then - someone who gets a plate for zilch and sells it for £10k, or someone who buys for £20k and sells for £50k? Both profits are unearned, yet by your logic the greater profit is the more legitimate.

If you must

Well I certainly agree about the quality control and immigration aspects, but these aren't necessarily rectified by restricted numbers.

But your point about PH expansion encroaching into the taxi side underlines what a heap of cack the SUD surveys are, since they try to pretend that PH don't exist as far as HC supply/demand is concerned.

1 - If a man buys in and the prices increase he's been lucky but bought not for this reason, if a man is issued free and then sells it within a short period of time then he's just abused the system.

2 - If I'm boring you just say

3 - Our SUD's have always taken PH into account, I didn't think it was the right thing to do, a proper Hack SUD should be only council ranks and to see if the hacks are on top of demand, a station is regulated by cost so it shouldn't be considered, nor should anywhere where they self impose limits on the ability to service that rank.

Still we live in a world where the bigger guy muscles the smaller guy, so eventually you will have to shop in one supermarket and drink in one venue, I'm glad I'm getting older, I would hate to be young in this controlled enviroment now, think about it, a dependent world of people doing exactly what the elite want them to do, be it work or war, we're all slaves to a machine nobody has the bottle to turn off, and if you don't believe me tell me the name of the head Political Correctness officer, and who is in charge of Justice when criminals are afforded more rights than the victims, you couldn't make it up mate, it's tragic, tragic that so many died for freedom only for others to walk in take over in the power abusive fashion they have, there's no bottle in Westminster, if there was they'd set up rivalk companies to those avoiding tax and undercut them to death to get rid of them, like the CoOp was supposed to have remained before the money bought it out, do you know the road haulage industry for supermarkets was bypassed by these companies to avoid the monopoly's commission on lorry regulation, that Stobbart lorry you see will be owned by Tesco,Asda etc but only a % of it, so him who destroyed the lorry business with his do it for nothing idea's died skint but not before he broke lots of independent lorry operators first, this same mentality is in the cab game, you may not have seen it yet but I have, and you won't like it when they knock your door I assure you.
