A young woman who was killed while looking after her three-year-old nephew and four-year-old niece was found dead by her mother, police said.

Chatherine Wynter, 19, also known as Katie Briscoe, was found stabbed at her sister's home in Beech Drive, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday.

a 19 year old girl who needed an alias?

Katie or Kate is often the diminutive of Catherine - just as Chris is the diminutive of Christian, Christina, Christopher etc.

I don't think it's an alias.

I have two surnames, but, I generally only use one and that is my family name rather than my previously married name. Some people will take the name of their partner even though they are not married which may explain the two surnames in this case

But whats on your DVLA driving licence and badge then toots?....

I believe in set formal rules, a child has its mums surname, if the mum is married she will have taken her husbands surname in marriage, hence the children will have dads surname, this the convention and traditional way, and theres nothing wrong with it, it works, and has done for 100's of years

When children arent even sure WHO their fathers are, let alone their names you have a recipe for the downfall of the fabric of society, this is obvious from the events of the summer when anarchy took control of our streets, aided and abetted by "unrest" amongst the "underprivileged" amongst us

my children have my name....

My maiden name is on the official documents now but there is nothing stopping me using my previously married name if I wish to do so. My eldest daughter was born before I was married she had my maiden name, then a change of name deed followed after the marriage. When she got older and because she shortened her christian name she asked if she could use the surname on her birth certificate because her initials were BO  No problem for her to start using my maiden name if she wished as a change of name deed has no legal binding until a child reaches 18 and then they have to properly change their name legally.

There may be perfectly legitimate reasons why this girl is known by 2 different names

The fact remains though that the poor girl got murdered and I believe two men have been arrested both known to the girl. did she invite her boyfriend and his mate round and things got out of control ? Anyway this thread is NOT about taxis or PH so shall we leave it there

Funny, over the years I've gotten the impression that you spend your whole life mumping and moaning about "set formal rules".

Im traditional at heart, I fly the flag (St Georges of course) and only fart quietly

the "formal" rules I moan at are the ones laid out by overpaid/underworked penpushers not our proper ones
